It's believed the protest started here at this steelyard before turning violent.

We are bringing you developing news out of Erzikistan, where protests are starting to turn violent after more hasty decisions from the Erzikistani government.  Yesterday, we brought you news that Erzikistan had backed out of a number of trade agreements in an effort to help stabilize the economy.  Now, we are hearing that the government is suspending pay to all military in an attempt to help stabilize the situation.

The Erzikistani government responded to these decisions, stating that the military will remain active while receiving payments through an intricate form of IOU’s.  Families of military members were clearly upset.  With military service being required between the ages of 18-22, many people were affected by this, causing more protests in support of regular military pay.  With more citizens becoming outraged at the situation, separate protests at one of countries larger steel manufacturing plants took a violent turn and there were reports of burning cars on city streets.  Things are quickly destabilizing in the area and, unless the Erzikistani government acts fast, this situation will most certainly spiral completely out of control.

It’s not just the labor unions and military who are upset.  Regular citizens are starting to understand the extremity of the situation at hand.  Protests occurred in major cities around the country, urging the government to seek help externally, as well as some varying opinion on the earlier decision to back out of NATO.  “It would have been our best interests if we would have stuck with NATO and sought help that way.  We are on the brink of an economic collapse.  If we continue to borrow money, our whole system will crash.” remarked Basri Aslan, supervisor at a local steel mill who says that this economic downturn is being felt nationwide.

For now, it seems that the Erzikistani military has gotten a handle on the riots, but for how long?  Keep following us at International Times for complete coverage on the situation.

Cutting pay for the military while there are huge goverment protests going on... that can not possibly be a bad idea!

Have someone suggested that they cut pay to the police next?

Does Erzikistan have any allies that could assist financially with their economic issues?

There are different ways to write it: Walhall, Valhall, Walhalla or Valhalla. And if you want to be very specific and show off: Vallhöll would be it's old norse name.
