Title: OSUT Availability
Post by: Robertson on July 26, 2015, 08:38:59 AM
I was just wondering if there is someone I can talk to about scheduling different days to attend the OSUT.

I really want to be apart of the 506th, but the timezones, and my work hours make it difficult to attend the set OSUT times. I can attend Friday and Saturday timings, because for me that is a Saturday and Sunday. Whereas i work Monday-Fridays can can't attend the other days.

Can you not attend Day 1 Saturday, Day 2 Friday, Day 3 Saturday, Day 4 Friday? I know that way will take a lot longer. But generally speaking we don't do individual training's. Also I would recommend sending a PM to SGT Avery, requesting for an extension, in order to get the extra time you will need to complete OSUT.

As SGT Cast stated you can PM SGT Avery for an extension as needed. Here are the requirements for completing OSUT:

-Completion of RCT training
-You must complete all 4 days in order
-You must be present during the training (yes I can tell when someone tries to AFK through a day)
-You must Complete OSUT in no shorter than 2 weeks but no longer than 45 days.

Therefor you could take each class with a different instructor and then take day 4 with your favorite, technically. It is recommended that you try and stay with one instructor so that you receive the best instruction and get to know a few of your fell members as well, rather than jumping from class to class.

Just be sure that when you are moving from class to class that you report in to the instructors thread every time you transfer to a different class. Doing Friday, Saturday you would be jumping between  SGT Avery's and my class. Unfortunately our classes run on opposite weeks from the need to cancel classes in the past. So you would take his day 1 on 08AUG2015, my day 2 on 14AUG2015, his day 3 on 15AUG2015 then my day 4 on 21AUG2015, as long as you do not miss any days.

Thank you very much for all the advice, SGT's.

I think I will do what you mentioned, SGT Stevens. I will attend the 8th, 14th,15th and 21st. Should I message SGT Avery to confirm this? Or just attend on the 8th whilst letting the instructors know?

You should always sign up on the class forum thread when attending a class. You would typically only need to sign in once per cycle, but as you plan to transfer classes you will need to sign in every time you change classes.
