PTT Operations

Still learning a few things within ARMA 3. I did not see it anywhere on here when I had searched for it. How does the PTT (push to talk) system work within ARMA 3?

Thanks and God speed!

For TFAR, the default setting is the caps lock key. Your TS is whatever you set it up to. I have mine set on my mouse, but you can set it to voice activation or whatever key works best for you.

So PTT is unfortunately a little confusing at first. So I'm just gonna go over the process I tell every recruit to use if they ask. First usually PTT with teamspeak is CAPS LOCK, but also is using your primary short wave in-game. So first have yourself go in game and change your primary short wave from CAPS LOCK to T, to do this go to CONTROLS and in the bottom center is configure addons, from there where is says MRT Accessory functions, just clcik on that and go to TFAR (Usualy grenade is T so i keybind throw grenade to 2X G) from here most people are set up, but just in case I believe to use your secondary radio freq is also T so I change that to Y (this is usually keybound to ZUES, un-keybind ZUES and make it something that you can remember but wont touch on accident)

to put it even simpler, Your PTT button is whatever you put it to on Teamspeak. However if arma have that button doing something else, naturally you would do that action while trying to speak. TFAR also have short range radio default on Caps Lock, Secondary short range channel on T. So it is adviseable not to have Caps Lock or T be your PTT button

you do not need to hold your PTT button to use a radio, simply use the radio button and speak.

I have PTT on my mouse, use CAPS LOCK as my primary radio channel and set T as an additional channel on the radio.  Being a team leader, 2IC or a medic you really need to have an additional channel set on your radio and this makes it pretty easy to manage.
