Fresh Meat with a question
« on: March 09, 2018, 06:03:31 PM »
Hello people, another recruit signing up. I cant stress how much I'm looking forward to playing with you guys, Its been a long time coming but I have finally changed work shifts that will allow me, on GMT to take part in EST operations. I'm sure I will have a lot of questions going forward but I have been wondering since I cant really find the information anywhere, how often does the unit participate in large story driven Campaigns/Operations like the recent 'Crimson Moon'? , are they bi-annual, once per year or does the schedule change?

It is really up to command staff, S2 and a few others what they can put together. Sometimes there is 2 deployments in a year, other times it's one very long one. Just depends on how the deployments go and how much time it takes to complete.

Well you can’t exacly pick and choose what you want to do. If your unit is supposed to be doing squad training, platoon training, FTX’s, and yes deployments, then by joining the 506th you have agreed to be there for all of it.

Except if you are in reserves. Then you can pick and choose.

Yeh I guess I worded that confusingly. What I meant to say was, in the grand scheme the Operations are something I am looking forward to that little bit more. I understand  the attendance policy and I know that you cant 'pick and choose'. I'm in for the full package, no reservations about that.

Between deployments, we got the weekly Squad trainings, Monthly Field Training Exercises and Platoon Trainings.
I joined before Operation Crimson Moon, and that deployment took about 6-7 months. So know you know how long a deployment can be. It really depends on HQ and S-personnel how long a deployment will be.

living in GMT isn't so bad after a while of getting used to working in EST. Deployments are entirely up to HQ, however, we have a good mix of deployment and training so I'm sure you will have a good time here!

Anyways we could always do with another Brit, we were starting to run out.

Since you're also living in GMT area - prepare urself for some late night sessions, get your brain ready -- just like me, im from Holland and ops are like 0200 for me, and sometimes end about 0500 SOMETIMES if u include de-briefs etc. But welcome!
