Coastal Region, Chernarus

The coastal region of Chernarus consists of the following districts;

(C)

  • (C) Northern District
  • (C) Central District
  • (C) Southern District

(U) All area-based Intelligence will be slightly general in nature to account for the free movement of personnel in and around the country, and bordering countries, as well as accounting for how difficult it can be to accurately track personnel during HUMINT/COMINT efforts.

(C) Existing TRADOC staff previously involved in Chernarus-based training activities have briefed deployed Commands detailing the noticeable cultural and political ideals in operation within the country. US training operations in and around Chernarus have been at the core of recent civil unrest, with the local military deployed in a full-scale engagement against locally stationed US forces.

(C) The following document outlines each major district of Chernarus, their current situation, any existing points of interest, and general background information.

(C) S-2 Intelligence will continue to analyze each area throughout the deployment, monitoring civilian, military, and political opinions of US forces and brief Task Forces prior to each patrol, highlighting potential dangers and current events relevant to the Task Force.

Northern District

(C) Bordering the Mordochka Training Center, and comprising the NSLA's major airbase, Northern Chernarus is going to prove a hard place for US forces to establish a foothold in the coastal region of Chernarus. The towns surrounding both airfields in the Northern District support both large civilian and military populations, primarily staffing and troops assigned to those two airfields. Since Operations Red Hammer and Red Anvil, the Northern District has been working to fortify their positions in preparation for a future conflict, with a good portion of that military might anchored via the port, Anti-air, and Artillery positions of Berezino.

(C) Although sparsely populated, the Northern District has numerous high-value targets including COP Stirling, COP Lancaster, and COP Scargill. These positions are likely to provide the most immediate threat to our position at Chester Airbase. The civilians of the Northern District have had the least direct exposure to US Training activities so are the largest target for political propaganda, including large show of force efforts from the NSLA and a lot of money being poured into the region in terms of military-based construction activity and the associated economical boost to local business with all the new personnel in town.

(C) Due to this, civilian casualties must be avoided during initial combat operations in the Northern District, it's very likely that any civilian casualties will hugely inflame tensions and greatly increase resistance across subsequent Districts.

Terrain: Largely fairly flat & open, with large portions of tree cover
Primary Focus: Chester Airbase, COP Scargill, COP Lancaster & COP Stirling
Commercial: Large range of fixed industry, most notably within Berezino
Residential: Large population centers centralized in Berezino and Krasnostav
Military: Mostly centered around the built-up positions with limited outposts expected
Road Network: All towns across the Northern District are very well interconnected

Threat Level: Extreme

Central District

(C) Central District is the second most populous of the districts, but also the most inconvenienced by US training operations. In particular, the areas of Airbase Ravensworth, COP Norris, and COP Bradwell. It's largely believed that the conflict in Chernarous was largely initiated due to highly inflamed tensions between US and NSLA staffers at Airbase Ravensworth. Some of the very first movement seen around the country was the reinforcement of COPs Bradwell and Mitford as well as several forward deployments of IDF assets.

(C) A densely populated interior, the Central District is the home of the working-class population of Chernarus, with a collectively strong community spirit and strong working relationships with the NSLA forces stationed amongst them.

Terrain: Large open areas with limited terrain features as well as dense woodland
Primary Focus: Airbase Ravensworth and the interior transit corridor COP Norris > COP Bradwell > COP Huntly
Commercial: Mostly primary-production centric with a relatively small number of supporting services
Residential: Numerous smaller population hubs without any major singular population center
Military: Several COPs and the major airbase, with an expected network of supporting OPs
Road Network: Great connection options between all major towns including for large movement of military supplies

Threat Level: Elevated

Southern District

(C) The Southern District is home to the major cities of Chernarus. With almost all governmental, administrative, and support services based out of the capital, Cernogorsk, and it's sister city Elektrovadsk, they are expected to quickly escalate into mini-fortresses once the fighting advances. The capital is also supported by several QRFs including those stationed at Hatton Airbase, COP Greystoke, and FARP Upton.

(C)

Terrain: The coastal populous is rimmed by a densely wooded ridgeline
Primary Focus: The heavily populated coastline and it's supporting military positions
Commercial: The Southern District is mostly focussed on administrative functions and office workers
Residential: Smaller coastal towns and large capital cities, the Southern District has a range of environments
Military: Both major cities are well defended with a strong combined-arms support network
Road Network: The major coastal road with multiple inland feeder roads

Threat Level: High
