Mr Katsukaiju

Thank you for your interest in the 506th IR RU.

There is something which will require your attention before we process your application forward:
  • A realistic name is required.
We require you to select a name which complies to our naming policy as outlined here.

Once you have an update on this topic, you may reply below to supply the required information and make me aware of the update, at which point your application will be processed again.

Specialist Morris,

Per CPT Drumheller's post regarding naming conventions, I submit the following:
"When you apply to the unit, you are given the choice for a first and last name. This does not have to be your real first and last name(I personally encourage fake names)."

Thus, I have submitted my nomme de guerre, being a play on words comprised by two monikers:
The first being "Katsu Kyu" which was given to me by a pair of very cute young ladies studying to be English Instructors in Japan when I was pursuing my college degree after returning from Iraq. It means "Wise One".
The second being "Kaiju" which, as you have discovered, is the genre of giant Japanese movie monsters of which "Goji" or "Gojira" or "Godzilla" is one. "Godzilla" was my callsign during my time running a USMC heavy machinegun (0331) section during multiple UDPs to Okinawa (and points west) from 1986 to 1997, and was resurrected while serving as an 11B in B Co, 1-161 81st HBT, US Army during my OIF 08-09 Deployment

"Katsukaiju", then, can be translated as "that wise old big green amphibious monster what ought not to be fucked with unless you have coffee or a death wish", which might fit a 55 year old Jarhead/Army Combat Vet with questionable people skills... It's a nomme de guerre I have used before - not online, however. Very few even caught the joke, most thinking that it was just another Japanese name.

So, if "PVT Goji Katsukaiju" from Honolulu, HI, doesn't fit the bill, I will be disappointed, but will change it - perhaps to "Bob Keeshan".

Your call.

Semper Fi,
