How long have you been playing ArmA III?: Roughly since release, I've logged 1,500 hours in, all MilSim or Eden. 400 hours in Arma 2.
Are you currently a member of an ArmA III gaming clan or unit?: No
Why do you want to join the 506th Infantry Regiment Realism Unit?: I have attempted to find a community that is able to slack my appetite for realism, many communities seem to believe that realism comes in the form of military ranks and oorahing everytime the SL says something, but fall flat on behaving professionally on the battlefield, employing small unit tactics and discipline effectively, scoff at support elements that don't actively participate in direct engagement and have generally low standards where players rambo, ignore ROE's, and go for the cool factor rather than the practical one. The only community that I had played with, that I actually enjoyed my time with, was Spearhead Gaming, but they began to go downhill, they diversified away from Arma and when they did hold Arma MilSim Ops the quality began less realistic and more focused on the cool factor, veterans of the community began leaving, I too eventually left, then a couple friends of mine started their own unit based on the 2nd Marines but a lack of active playerbase saw it shut down, I've played with StarSim, 40k Units, OPTRE Units and generic clans that just play whatever they find interesting, all of them were fun for a short time, but ultimately grew stale and frustrating due to the before mentioned flaws and low standards. I finally gave up on giving communities a shot and trying to make the best of it, and began actively searching for a unit that could fulfill what I desired; Professionalism, realism, maturity and detail. Things that are important, and too me, bring more fun than flashy visuals and Ramboing an entire village by yourself, I also found myself a bit more disappointed in some communities due to the lack of support for more non-combative experiences, communities that have had certain specializations in the past I've adamantly pursued, I've primarily tried, when possible, to be an active Engineer, a Scout and a Mortarman, and I have a fair amount of experience in ACE scope adjustment and advanced ballistics, mostly due to communities having the designated marksman have recce responsibilties, and I've found I've enjoyed long-ranged shooting and quiet methodicity of being a Sniper - Once I got over the frustration of learning, which a video series by TiborasaurusRex helped me learn quite a lot. I've also practiced in these mentioned roles frequently, a bit obsessively in some cases, not only so I could fulfill the roles as best I can, but because I have military aspirations, being a former Royal Canadian Army Cadet with the 2520 71st Field Battery Army Cadet Corps, and a future Infantryman in the Canadian Army, whenever the process of enlistment finishes. Anyways, this is getting too long, so the long and short of it is that I want to join you because you seem like a professional community that delivers on its promise of realism.
