Lag / Audio Tearing on TS and in Game
« on: November 06, 2023, 05:24:46 PM »
Not sure if this is the right place for this but last night during TFA and the JTAC FTX I was having weird lag and audio tearing issues. I’m not sure it was just Arma because I kept having it during the debrief in TS. I realized in the middle of the op that I forgot to update my NVIDIA driver. Updated that. Any ideas as to why other than that I might be having issues? I was also get super low FPS. All of this isn’t normal and just started yesterday.

Is it my internet?

I also have my FPS capped at 240 which is the refresh rate for the monitor on my laptop. Don’t hate me for using a laptop 😅
Prior to the other day I had it capped at 120 and never had any issues.

I recently was experiencing an audio lag/popping/tearing. Not in Arma specifically, but it's something to check at least. It was caused by all things my NIC card power settings. In Windows 11, Under your Network & Internet Settings > Advanced Network Settings, select and expand your Network adapter (Probably says Ethernet), then under More adaptor options select Edit. Click Configure, then Power Management. Make sure the "Allow Computer To Turn Off this Device" option is OFF.

It seemed weird to me at first that this option would do anything, especially around audio, and when the NIC card was obviously still on. But doing that cleared up a BUNCH of network errors I was seeing in regards to my audio streams.
