SUBJECT: TRAVEL WARNING - ERZIKISTAN

This Travel Warning is being issued to reflect the temporary closure of U.S diplomatic facilities in the state of Erzikistan. No consular services are available to U.S. citizens at this time in Erzikistan. The Department of State has ordered all Embassy family members and non-emergency personnel to depart Erzikistan. The U.S. Government continues to urge all U.S. citizens to avoid travel to Erzikistan. U.S. citizens in Erzikistan should depart. This warning supersedes the Travel Warning of April 02, 2016.

The Department of State warns U.S. citizens against travel to Erzikistan and recommends that those U.S. citizens in Erzikistan depart, due to the potential for ongoing unrest. The State department is aware of reports carried in the media of militia and a possible breakaway faction called the "Erzikistan Republic", and wants to stress there have been confirmed incidents of abductions of government officials and rioting.

The United States is currently deploying forward forces to support and assist the sovereign government of Erzikistan, who have no standing armed forces at time of writing and are currently pursuant to spontaneous demonstrations, violence, and looting. The U.S. Department of State strongly urges U.S. citizens to avoid all demonstrations, as even peaceful ones can quickly become unruly and a foreigner could become a target of harassment, or worse.  While demonstrations have not been directed toward Westerners, U.S. citizens are urged to remain alert to local security developments and to be vigilant regarding their personal security.  U.S. citizens should take the appropriate steps to bolster their personal security. Again, there is no indication that Westerners are being threatened or targeted at this time.

Unannounced security checkpoints and road and airport closures may occur throughout Erzikistan, changing traffic patterns and flight availability without notice.  Due to ongoing internet and telephone service interruptions in Erzikistan, U.S. citizens who require assistance in departing Erzikistan should contact the U.S. State Department at 1-202-555-4444 or via email at EzrikistanEmergencyUSC@state.gov.net

Conditions throughout Erzikistan remain unsettled and dangerous. U.S. citizens who plan to travel to or remain in Erzikistan despite this Travel Warning, should consult the Department of State's latest Consular Information Sheet and the Worldwide Caution Public Announcement, which are located on the Department's Internet site at
http://travel.state.gov.net

Minimize considered.
