Unknown game crash error
« on: June 24, 2016, 05:10:10 PM »
In the middle of playing today on the Assault Server my game crashed. It gave me the follow prompt "The instructions at 0x01444616 referenced memory at 0x00616174. The memory could not be read." After terminating the program I then had an error screen with "Exit code:   0xC0000005 - STATUS_ACCESS_VIOLATION". What is going on with my ARMA today, it has been running smoothly with heavy game play the last few days, then today it decides to get an attitude. I have tried updating my graphics driver as the wiki says with no change. And  tried using a different server with still no change. Also tried to validate the game and that did not change the outcome.

Thank you all for the assistance,

http://www.tomshardware.co.uk/answers/id-2900590/arma-0xc0000005-status-access-violation.html

It's a memory access violation.  You can try adding -malloc=system to your start up parameters (In Steam Library > Right click on Arma 3 >  Properties > Set Launch Options...) to increase the memory available for Arma 3.  This may not fix it 100% of the time but I haven't had that error pop up since I added it.

Thank you very much SGT B. Burke, so far it seemed to have helped out for the little while I was on.

Arma has several of its own memory allocation settings it tries to use instead of what your OS already has in place (which is stable). If you continue with crashing with memory issues, ensure that Arma is not loading one of its malloc settings. You can do this by deleting the malloc .dlls in its DLL folder in your main Arma 3 file path, or, using the Arma launcher, you can select it to use system (your OS) malloc.
