Why do you want to join the 506th Infantry Regiment Realism Unit?: I've been with Shacktac for 10+ years but age is catching up with me in changes to my vision and hearing. ST has a restriction on the use of magnified optics which is done to balance the game play. For me it has been getting more difficult to do PID especially when opposing forces use similar camo patterns. Adverse weather and lighting add to the barriers. I think that a magnifier or low optics can redress that. Also some of the less experienced leaders don't understand the use of the command voice which makes more difficult to understand commands when you are some distance from the speaker an blocked terrain/urban features. Also, the use of radio protocols is somewhat casual. If you hear clearly all the time it might not be problem, but if have some loss of hearing it will be. Following proceedure can make it somewhat easier to deduce what was said. This should be taken as a criticism of Shacktac, it is just a different flavor and has worked well for 16 years. I'm changing and so I'm looking for something different. I understand that the goal is to have fun in a role playing, military structured environment..
How did you hear about the 506th Infantry Regiment Realism Unit?: Videos by Jester814 and others allowed me to see and hear how you play and it looks good to me.
If you have elected either rotary wing pilot, fighter pilot, combat engineer or medic, if all billets are full by the time you finish the training pipeline, you may have to go infantry for the time being. Do you understand this?: N/A at this time. But yes.
Do you understand that you are required to own Arma 3 Apex DLC in order to actively participate in the unit?: I have owned it since OFP and with Arma 3 I bought the early release alpha version which gives me all BIS DLC for free. If I don't have it, I'll buy it.
