Kingsmen of 1 LANCS on patrol in the North of Podagorsk.
Dateline - April 6, 2015 IGT - Bolshevik, Podagorsk
As U.S. troops touch down and begin preparations for their field training exercises (Commonly referred to as FTX’s) within the Greek island of Altis, United Kingdom security forces from the 1st Battalion Duke of Lancaster's Regiment of the 4th Mechanized Brigade, have begun stepping up security operations along the Chernarus-Podagorsk border. While internal matters inside Podagorsk’s border still remain up in the air as pro-NATO and pro-separatist groups aggression have begun to flare up in regions, resulting in damage to shops and homes, the UK has kept their eyes fixed north leaving the French alone in peace-keeping operations to the south.
The majority of these security operations have been focused on foot patrols among forward operating bases and smaller sentry camps along the northern border. Sgt. Mick Foster of the 4th Mechanized Brigade upon returning from a routine patrol gave a brief description of the situation.
“We’re still finding small amounts of RPLA forces hidden in the forests and mountains. The majority of these being radical Red Guard members refusing to leave the country.”
“We’re not interested in changing this from a security to a combat operation.”
However reports of unidentified, plain clothed men crossing in and out of the border appear to be increasing daily, a finding that the Sgt. wasn’t willing to elaborate on, describing the reports as ‘uncertain’ and ‘speculative’, making the point that these reports weren’t helping with morale.
The NATO peacekeeping force seem to be keeping their comments far away from any mention of civil war or insurgency, a fear that runs the risk of becoming a reality as the RPLA man the other side of the border, with their scorched earth effort still a concern.
While the RPLA have announced they are not interested in further direct combat operations against NATO forces in Podagorsk, describing the war-ridden country as nothing but a ‘small patch of dirt’, it is leaving many analysts speculative about the true retreat of the Russian People’s Liberation Army, or a resort to guerilla tactics within the country, including bombing attacks as well as the increased risk of a flash-point between pro-NATO and pro-separatist groups, with rumours cropping up instigating the RPLA in arms trafficking into Podagorsk.
No matter the RPLA’s intentions within the Podagorskian border, their threat to the regions stability remains as critical as before, and as 12 US troops continue to be missing now confirmed to be moved across the border into RPLA-held Chernarus, the entire world is watching to see the response of not only NATO forces, but also the United States.
