New Arma 3 Terrain: Tanoa
« on: June 19, 2015, 10:44:56 PM »
This was mentioned in another thread, but I thought it deserved a topic of its own. What do people think of the new island, based on the trailer at least?

Won't be out until the first half of 2016, so it's a ways off.

I'm much more interested to see how the addition of DX12 to ArmA will increase multiplayer and server performance.

Oh my the Jungle Density looks amazing!!!! RIP FPS :(

It will be really cool to do some jungle warfare stuff with some seals.

You never know, maybe the update/expansion will actually come with some performance basic graphical performance improvements, and not just DX12 server performance, etc. Heh. Otherwise, yeah, the density of foliage may cause more problems than Chernarus.

Either way, in my mind, air assault and jungle terrain go together like beer on a sunny afternoon, and that is easily the nicest looking jungle terrain I've seen in Arma. So I hope we can take the 506th there eventually- though if we do, it probably won't be for some time after the expansion is released.

Do we have good enough camouflage for the jungle?

Multicam was meant to blend into desert and woodland terrain. If anything someone can mod a Tropic Multicam which exist my MulticamPatterns. But probably not be issued to standard infantry in real life.
