New Recruit having problems connecting to multiplayer servers
« on: October 15, 2015, 01:09:26 AM »
Hi, I'm a new recruit and have my 1st training class today at 1900...I have downloaded and installed all the mods required but when I try to log in to any server I keep getting a license key error and kicks me off.  I have tried over 20 games server and it happens to all of them.  I took a picture of the error that comes up.

I also downloaded teamspeak 3 and it downloaded Overwolf too...is overwolf needed or can I remove the program?  Thanks in advance for the help.

Make sure you downloaded your mods from the appropriate place (i.e. the source, or as close as you can get, and not a third party), and reinstall them.

Also, no Overwolf is not required.

Ok I think I found a fix to my problem...I just did a quick test and it seems to work good now...I will test it out more tonight.  Go to the directory where you have Arma 3 installed which for a lot of people it would be C:\Program Files (x86)\Steam\steamapps\common\Arma 3\Launcher\config.bin  change the "config.bin" file to "config(save).bin" and it should work fine getting into multiplayer game servers in case anyone else has this same problem.  By the way I found this fix online in Steam under Arma 3 topic.

What servers are you trying to join? If they are normal public servers like wasteland, they usually ban mods to prevent hacking.

the mods we use also have to be running on the server end of things. pick a 506th server. Like the assault server. and try it there. you wont be able to access a server unless it is also running to same modes as you.

On an unrelated issue, I also recommend getting rid of Overwolf.  Overwolf works great for games that you can already run with the best FPS.  However, for me personally, I had overwolf when I joined the unit, and it gave me severe frame rate drops.  Thankfully, I had a Nvidia GTX, so I had Shadowplay, which is great for recording and saving frames.  There are also other programs out there that will get the job done if you would like to record.

Aside from frame rate drops, Overwolf controls can not easily be rebinded, and the binding to open Overwolf is Ctrl+Tab. Common key bind, so it could interfere with some things. That and the fact it has the thing in the corner to see who's talking currently. Sure, if you want to learn people's voices it's great when you're with a couple people, but when you're in an operation with lots of people talking at once, its completely ludicrous.
