After a long and bloody battle between the Taliban and Revolutionary Brotherhood of Afghanistan (RBA), the Afghani government now has a new enemy. As a matter of fact, RBA crushed the Taliban in Eastern Afghanistan and was able to recruit a few Taliban cells operating in the area.

Despite the intervention of the Afghan National Army (ANA) and the Afghan National Police (ANP), the Afghan National Security Forces (ANSF) found themselves stuck in the middle of an ideological battle between two internationally-recognized terrorist groups.

According to the Ministry of Defense, more than 1,500 ANSF soldiers were killed while trying to secure villages across the Eastern part of the war-torn country; a huge blow to both morale and recruitment efforts. The recent withdrawal of ISAF troops brought a new wave of violence, and the Afghani government is currently discussing the return of American soldiers to restore some sort of uneasy peace for the civilians.

However, due to the hasty ISAF withdrawal in a crucial period, International Times was told the Afghani government is not too keen on letting American forces back in country, fearing they would redeploy home before the work is done once again.

We have learned that the U.S. Secretary of State planned on visiting Kabul to further discuss details about the possible deployment of conventional forces. According to a public affairs officer of the U.S. Central Command, operators from the Joint Special Operation Command, as well as some CIA Special Activity Division (SAD) are currently in country conducting human intelligence (HUMINT) and raids on high value targets (HVT) on the demand of the Afghani government.

The Afghani government was keen on letting U.S Special Operations conduct surgical strikes on key leaders in the mountainous region of Afghanistan but is hesitant to allow conventional forces to join in the fight.

RBA Influencing Civilians

The RBA propaganda cell released pictures of their combatant talking with village elder and telling them they would restore peace and prosperity in the region as long as they abide to the Islamic laws.

Local HUMINT assets were also able to infiltrate a low-level cell and confirmed RBA were receiving an important amount of weapons from a soon-to-be revealed source; the CIA has a good idea on the source but won’t release any information before being 100% certain. Many villages are hosting weapon caches and have been quietly working with the RBA.

Local RBA cells have been hiding weapons in village.

From what we heard, many civilians are openly supporting RBA but a few villages are still pro-ISAF due to the provincial reconstruction teams (PRT) efforts to bring a better quality of life to their villagers.

RBA insurgents have been spotted destroying wells and other commodities built by ISAF troops under the pretext of “allowing infidels” to influence their way of life.

The meeting between the U.S. Secretary of State and the Afghan President is planned to be held shortly after Christmas. International Times will cover the meeting and will update you on the agreement between the United States and Afghanistan on the possible return of conventional troops to the mountains of Afghanistan.
