That's a pretty big difference in temp! Is it easy to redo the paste if necessary?

Very. Just look at a manual or guide on the web for the proper application for your specific CPU.  For instance, my CPU needed a vertical line of paste before the heat sink was attached. Any excess coming out the side can be cleaned up.

Is overclocking possible with this parts list or do you need a certain kind of motherboard? I'm not familiar with OC.

You need both an overclocking-capable board and an overclocking-capable CPU.

I believe you're right on both - keeping in mind the additional thermal output of an overclocked CPU.

Great, I'll keep that in mind. Thank you.

For intel the overclock capable CPUs are K and (typically) X chips. The motherboard chipsets that support OC are Z series (Z170 and Z270)

That's beautiful... and my wife would be unhappy lol

Why did you pick that motherboard? And why did you go with that CPU cooler?

Thanks

The 212 is kind of "gold standard" for a lot of people

And why did you go with that CPU cooler?

Yeah as far as air cooling goes, the Evo 212 is the best you can find. I had one on my old 8350 build and it worked fantastic.

I went watercooling on this build though and I'll never go back.

Ill chip in for cooling,

Like SGT Garcia said, once you go to water you wont go back and the prices of AIO's are so competitive its worth working one into your budget. The NZXT Kraken / Corsair AIO's are great, they come in a lot of flavors with single 120mm radiators to 280mm Radiators. I personally use the H115i and its fantastic. Pair any radiator with High pressure fans such as the SP120's and your good to go. Even if you dont plan on any heavy overclocking its worth investing into one.

My build if anyone is interested : https://uk.pcpartpicker.com/list/wJrs7h

I went with that motherboard because it is a newer motherboard and on top of that it had great reviews and I'm a big asus fan and on top of that the things it supports is awesome. And that cpu cooler I bought because its probably the best one on the market for its price it is a great cpu cooler and for on top of that I don't need a bunch of cpu cooler fans for my build to the case I have that has 4 different built in fans in it.

That's beautiful... and my wife would be unhappy lol

UPDATE:

I got a build together:
-MSI Z270-A PRO
-i7 7700k
-Cryorig H7
-MSI Geforce GTX 1060 6GB
-16GB G.Skill Ripjaws DDR4-3000 (8x2)
-Samsung 850 evo 250GB
-EVGA Gold 750W PSU

So far, it seems to be handling Arma nicely in SP missions and ALiVE missions. It handles Ultra settings with no issues. We'll see on the servers.
