New gaming rig
« on: July 06, 2017, 12:47:08 PM »
Looking to get myself a new gaming rig and making a return to the unit after a year and a half.
Needs to be portable though as I have to change countries once in a while.
Don't have a lot of knowledge about this, absolutely not able to build my own and counting on you guys for some advice.

Considering either the Alienware 17 or the Predator 17.
Both have the Intel Core i7-7700HQ processor and NVIDIA GeForce GTX 1070 graphics card.
Thinking that 8 gigs DDR4 should be sufficient, and 1TB of HDD and 512GB of SSD should do the trick.

Any thoughts?
Much obliged gents

I don't know how important playing games on the go is to you, but you should know that buying a gaming laptop will be more expensive than an equally powerful desktop. Both are very well built, but if you're just playing Arma with the 506th, then you might not need a laptop.

Then you have made good choices, both of those laptops are high quality and the specs you have selected should run Arma 3 at 30 fps during firefights, 40-50 when not in a firefight. You may want to look at other features they have, such as screen refresh rate and other not completely necessary things they have, but that you may want (also such as storage) to find the best system for your money.

*Dell is currently having a sale on their website on Alienware 17s*

**Edit: It looks like the Predator 17 has better specs for the price, but this doesn't say anything about build quality or customer support/warrenties**

I would look at reviews for both laptops if I were you.
Here is a excellent review for the Alienware 17- https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=nin7j42pPGU

Hope I'm helping!
