Winter FTX 02-18
OPFOR Vehicle IdentificationTask Force Charlie
AH-6M, AH-64E PilotLancer Flight Log (supplemental):Lancer (1x AH-6M) escorted 2x CH-47 into the AO ("COP Charlie"). During overflight, Lancer was only able to observe inert equipment but not any infantry or other personnel. As a precaution, Lancer engaged LWIRCM (light-weight infrared countermeasures), exiting to the north-west and circling back from the east as the Chinooks were improvising alternate LZs due to enemy fire and a congested primary LZ. In order to not interfere with the Chinook's improvised LZs and (necessarily) volatile flight paths, and to avoid a mid-air collision, Lancer deemed it safer to not improvise/self-designate a CCA run during insertion. By the time of Lancer's third pass over the COP, 1x Chinook had already delivered their chalk with the second Chinook lifting off shortly afterward. Lancer's escort of the 2x CH-47 back to Maruka Airbase proceeded without incident.
