Help finding a Gaming Laptop
« on: March 10, 2015, 12:57:21 PM »
I'm looking to buy a Gaming Laptop to play Arma when I can since I'm on the road but I am not a Computer genius.

Could someone link me to a decent Gaming Laptop that can handle the game? Looking to spend up to $2000

I got my Gaming Laptop today, Not the replace my desktop, but something I can enjoy on the move.

I got mine from here, Sure they ship internationally - http://www.scan.co.uk/

I got a 15.6"
i7 4790K @ 4.0Ghz
Nvidia GTX 970m 6GB
8GB Corsair Vengence RAM

Laptops are not cheap for sure. But their nice looking things. Mine was around £1300-14000, Although I've got mine on Finances which takes it up to £1550. All in all, not bad price and great laptop. Thing with Gaming laptops is you pay a huge amount of money for the Graphics card and very little for everything else. In that £1300, £900 was spent on the 970M...

Alienware sucks for desktops because you can self build the same unit for generally 50% the price, or at least you used to be able to. But laptops are a different story, as far as I'm aware they have always had good laptops.

Also check out iBuyPower, they have a fairly good reputation and a decent selection on laptops for your price range.

Anything Asus. I've owned alienware, hp, toshiba, dell, and many others. Asus are my favorite gaming laptops. They feel sturdy and well built and they are cheap while holding a lot of power.

Looks Ok, But I'll tell you this, You will need to make sure the laptop is plugged in at all times when gaming. Because as much as they should be portable. They are not capable of performance when running off battery.

This laptop any good for Arma 3?

I play on a tablet.  But it's super-light weight which is my goal while traveling.  Performance is the worst/minimal on a tablet.
