(S) Delta Company, 5th Battalion, 101st Aviation Regiment, along with other aerial reconnaissance assets, have been conducting intelligence, surveillance and reconnaissance (ISR) actions on a suspected SoAK headquarters in the vicinity of Fallujah. This mansion compound, hereby designated as HQ HIGHBALL [GRIDREF 003007], has been confirmed as belonging to a high ranking local warlord, who is the head of operations in the region and has been using the mansion as his personal base. The presence of General Farid Asad is unconfirmed and evaluated as highly unlikely. The compound is guarded by a mixture of SoAK forces and an unidentified Private Military Security force utilizing all black NATO equipment.
Fig. 1: HQ HIGHBALL with a Private Military Security force sporting NATO gear and an armed Mi-8 helicopter in the background. (S) The nearby village of KARBALA [GRIDREF 003005] has a large militant force, mostly operating out of a large construction compound. Outside of that group, it is highly likely that any remaining civilians still within the village are strong SoAK supporters and will likely be hostile to BLUFOR activities.
Fig. 2: The village of Karbala, with the marked structure being an enemy stronghold, just behind an abandoned construction site. (S) As seen during ODF 06-25, SoAK forces will likely have man-portable indirect fire assets located in or around the village.
(S) The nearby OP SPRITZ [GRIDREF 007003] serves as an auxiliary infantry barracks housing a small motorized infantry unit.
Fig. 3: OP SPRITZ (S) COP MANHATTAN [GRIDREF 004015] serves as the primary OPFOR staging ground in this AO and is the SoAK's primary distribution hub of supplies, reinforcements, mechanized and motorized assets and perhaps more. Additionally, an inner compound has what appears to be a fortified gate. Explosives or ladders are recommended in order to make forced entry.
(S) S-2 Comment: S-2 strongly suggests this location to be of highest priority when advancing on the HQ.
Fig. 4: COP MANHATTAN (S) A previously raided OPFOR strong point, OP NUGGET [GRIDREF 012010], is believed to still harbor some militant activity and should be treated as hostile.
(C) As the topographical map may be confusing, it is important to note that the road leading into Karbala is under a tunnel for an approximate distance of 300m.
