Today we return to the ongoing situation in Chernarus; the war torn eastern European nation, which recently seems to fall ever deeper into civil war. As highlighted in our previous article, the youth of Chernarus have turned to social media to air their plight. On a whole their voices have fallen on deaf ears. Today we show yet more harrowing stories, from real people, in a land where the gunfire never ceases.
In last weeks article we highlighted @RSTOYA and his fears while living in Berezino. Well, this week it seems that he has made his way to the recently bombarded town of Pogorevka. It seems that this town is now in a poor state of decay and that it may well now be contested, no one seems to know what is going on here. However, government spokespeople are adamant that this town is still under the control of the Chernarus government.
A Periscope article wouldn't be complete without taking a look at the somewhat cheeky @Defiant account which seems to be linked heavily with the RPLA. This time round, the RPLA seem to wish to highlight their persistent harassing of the Chernarus Armed Forces. Why do they wish to highlight this? At this moment in time, the RPLA seems to have made significant gains, however, they are still short of total victory. Therefore, it seems that this statement is aimed at showing the world that the RPLA is still on the front foot. With a large amount of veteran fighters retreating from Podagorsk, the RPLA position in Chernarus is only ever going to become stronger if nothing is done to halt their impending advance.
With this considered, the people of Chernarus are in harms way. @Elektro highlights this view perfectly. The unknown account seems to suggest that the individual is living in the second city of Elektrozavodsk. One of the very few urban environments in Chernarus, Elektrozavodsk is located on the souther edges of the country and is the cultural home of Chernarus, hosting such things as the much famed Chernarus Psychfest. This festival has since been postponed due to the conflict.
However, this festival is not the only sacrifice which has been taken in the city. Freedom of speech is now at risk. With this huge cultural and multicultural city now under the RPLA control, the people appear scared to speak out for fear of reprisal.
Finally, a note to end on. Recently we have seen a large amount of reports from Chernarus that checkpoints are being set up to control the flow movement around the countryside and in particular around contested towns and cities. Most of the talk is of how annoying they are, but on the 11th April 2015 a skirmish was reported at one of these checkpoints. RPLA spokespeople highlight that their soldiers were forced to defend themselves, helmet cam footage appears to defend this, however, if you listen and look closely, the truck and its occupants do not appear to be armed and or behaving in a threatening manner. It is hard to know the truth due to the fog of war, food for thought.
