Team Speak App
« on: May 26, 2015, 12:12:00 AM »
Does anyone here utilize the Teamspeak iPhone app? Is it worth the $5? Seems kinda handy for keeping in contact with my section and things like that. But that's a heavy chunk just for an app that could just be a waste of space.

I got it for work.  Right now it's just nice to have when I am out of town or bored driving in the car(not recommended). If you don't have other uses for it I wouldn't see the point.  It also uses a lot of data so if you don't have unlimited watch out. And lastly it uses a shit tone of battery.  All in all I like it, but then again I do the majority of things on my phone.

Edit; this was typed on my phone so sorry for the poor layout.

I just got it for work as well. Make sure that the security level of your user on here is high enough. Otherwise you cannot connect to our TS. You'll have to import your identity from the desktop version to do so. At least thats what it is looking like to me

I'm having a networking issue that's keeping me from reaching the 506th TS server - saw this post and wondered if using the app might provide a workaround until I can get a new router/modem from my ISP tomorrow (Monday).

Would I be able to use this for an hours-long op?  Do you think it would encounter the same network routing problems I'm having on my desktop PC, or would it take a totally different route?

If you have your phone connected on your home network when you're using the app, it would/should take the same route. If you turn off WiFi and just use your cellular, it should take a different route. Be advised it will use a lot of data, so make sure you account for that.

Unfortunately no. You'd have to use ts3 with TFAR otherwise you'll just hear everyone speak. Not to mention your phone burn up the battery and your bandwidth will through the roof

The app is great. However we use a Security level that I do believe the App isn't capable of getting so.... I don't think you can connect to our TS with it.

Okay - if anybody has any other suggestions for work-arounds that are going to let me participate in our op tonight, let me know.  I was able to contact nfo customer service by using my phone (none of their websites - home page, server page, etc. are working for me right now on my home pc- all giving me Error-timed-out messages).  I'm working with them via email to try to figure out what's going on.

I know people in this unit that have used their phone to tether to the internet and played...ping/speed usually is worse (depending on how fast your home network is to begin with) but it is possible.

I use it. Though sparingly and only on wifi. It's great!
