Question on disapproved mods
« on: September 02, 2015, 05:53:17 PM »
Quoting Major Drumheller's post:

Allowed:
-De Leo's M4/M16 sound modifications
-Moreno's sound modifications
-Cypress Push to Hear
-Shacktac HUD - Non-STGI version
-Shacktac Stamina
-Shacktac Map Autobrightness
-Shacktac Nametags
-ACE3 No idle
-ACE3 Goggles
-GDT Grass Mod for Chernarus
-Tao Folding Map
-Compass and watch enlarger
-Mid-range texture replacer
-VTS Weapon Resting

Specifically Disallowed:
-Blastcore(all versions)
-Speed of Sound
-JSRS 2.2
-JSRS 3(Dragonfyre)
-MrF Rangefinder MkII
-Shacktac Group Indicators(This comes packaged with ST HUD so make sure you remove it)

That is all. If you are running any client-side mods that are not on the approved list, they need to be disabled immediately.

If you wish to submit a client-side mod for Command Staff approval:

-Test it to ensure that it does not cause any .rpt errors

-Send it up your CoC with a link to the mod and a short write-up of what the mod does

Now before I get any feathers ruffled, I'm not disputing the ruling against these mods. I'm just curious as to why they didn't want to use them? I watched a video today and the sounds seem quite impressive for Speed of Sound Pure. We're they conflicting with other 506th mods? Buggy?

They cause server performance issues making operations unplayable.

If there's a mod on the disallowed list, it's usually there for one of two reasons. It's either redundant (such as the Shacktac Group Indicators, as their purpose is already in the pack), or in the case of many of the JSRS, it spams RPT errors on such a massive scale, for each and every individual running it on a server, that it affects server performance and client side frames.

Ok, thanks for the info. Just wondering what red flags I should be looking for if I were to come across a helpful mod for the 506 before I toss it up for suggestion.

The reason I was given as to why STGI is disallowed is because it causes server side errors, not that it is a redundant feature.
