What is Realism in Arma Reforger?
Realism in Arma Reforger goes beyond graphics and ballistics. It's about recreating the structure, discipline, and coordination of real military operations. A realism unit operates with authentic ranks, enforces chain of command, uses proper radio communications, and conducts planned operations with briefings, objectives, and after-action reviews.
Arma Reforger's Enfusion engine provides the foundation with realistic weapon handling, vehicle physics, expansive terrain, and a modding platform that allows communities to build authentic military scenarios. But the realism comes from the people and the unit culture, not just the game engine.
Realism vs. Casual Play
In a casual Arma Reforger server, players jump in, grab gear, and play however they want. There's no structure, no communication discipline, and no coordinated objectives. It can be fun, but it barely scratches the surface of what Arma Reforger can offer.
In a realism unit like the 506th, every operation is planned. Platoon leaders issue orders. Squad leaders coordinate movement. Fire teams execute with precision. Medics follow triage protocols. Radio operators maintain comms discipline. The result is an experience that feels closer to a real military deployment than anything else in gaming.
No Experience? No Problem.
You do not need a military background or prior milsim experience to be part of this. The majority of our members started with zero knowledge and learned everything through our training program. Our two-day OSUT covers movement, radio protocol, fire team tactics, and everything else you need to operate confidently alongside your squad.
What matters is your willingness to learn and your desire to take the experience seriously. If you want to be part of a team that plans, trains, and fights together every week, you belong here. We will get you up to speed.

Why Arma Reforger Over Arma 3?
The 506th fully transitioned to Arma Reforger in July 2024. The Enfusion engine brings significant improvements for realism gameplay: better infantry movement and animation, improved vehicle handling, native modding support through the Workbench, and vastly improved visual fidelity that enhances immersion.
Arma Reforger is also Bohemia Interactive's actively developed platform, meaning ongoing improvements to the simulation tools that realism communities depend on. Our unit was one of the first established milsim communities to commit fully to Reforger.
The 506th Infantry Regiment, Since 2014
Founded in November 2014 by former members of the 15th MEU(SOC) Realism Unit, the 506th simulates a platoon within the 506th Infantry Regiment, 101st Airborne Division, the legendary "Currahee" regiment. Over a decade of operations has built a community of 4,900+ members with 190,000+ forum posts and 150+ completed deployments.
Many of our members are active duty military and veterans who bring real-world experience to our operations. This is a structured environment where military enthusiasts, both experienced and brand new, come together to experience what coordinated tactical operations feel like.
