(S//FVEY) SUMMARY OF EVENTS(S//FVEY) Task Force Alpha, as part of their mission during ODF 04-25, assaulted and secured the village of Al-Golan [GRIDREF 031051]. Upon arrival, TFA found the village littered with OPFOR casualties and destroyed OPFOR assets, with the exception of two surviving OPFOR fighters, one of which was killed on sight by TFA troopers. The remaining fighter was quickly apprehended. The POW then explained that the village was previously an OPFOR strongpoint that was recently raided by an unknown third party, which the POW mistakenly identified as American forces due to similar uniforms and their usage of the English language.
(TS//NF) POW INTERROGATION RESULTS
(TS//NF) The POW is positively identified as Ahmed Kazem, 22 years old, Shia Muslim, and a native of the Albu Nimr village ~25 km West of Ramadi. Ahmed is a recent volunteer fighter for the SoAK due to his belief that the local government has oppressed minority Shia Muslims living in the Governorate, and that Nouri al-Karbouli's departure from politics is due to his support for the Shia population. The SoAK has promised him food and housing security for his family, and the reinstatement of Mr. al-Karbouli which will lead to the prosperity of his faith and people in exchange for his loyalty.
(TS//NF) Ahmed stated that the village of Al-Golan was raided by a small English-speaking group of operators at around 0830, 20DEC24. They wore Multicam pattern uniforms, FAST-adjacent helmets with masks, and used suppressed NATO rifles. Due to Ahmed's inexperience with NATO forces and equipment, he cannot positively identify the unit nor their country of origin. Per his recollection, the group was lethal and professional, though seemed to be in a hurry as they did not clear his hiding spot in one of the outlying buildings within the compound. Ahmed was confident that they were searching for something specific, as the operators spent at least 15 minutes within the main building after clearing it, moving up and down each floor multiple times. As TFA came into contact with SoAK forces within the Western Sector at around 0920, the operators quickly regrouped and left the compound. Ahmed could not confirm the group's method of insertion or extraction, nor whether the group achieved their objective.
(TS//NF) The recovered bullet casings and post mortem reports of deceased SoAK fighters recovered from the village are consistent with Ahmed's statements. Most casings were 5.56x45mm NATO M855A1/M856, while the rest were 7.62x51mm NATO M80 casings, and gunshot wounds were consistently within center body mass, with the occasional head wound. Minimal over-penetration or missed shots were found. All destroyed OPFOR motorized/mechanized assets were the results of demolitions or direct applications of anti-armor weaponry, the latter of which left no shells/casings/discarded single-use systems for recovery.
(TS//NF) All recovered evidence and statements from Ahmed Kazem point towards a Tier 1 Special Forces unit from a NATO allied country. Aside from the 506th and its supporting assets, the only other NATO force with presence within Ramadi, Iraq is the British Royal Air Force, who has given notice of their training exercises at around the same time.
(S//FVEY) Ahmed Kazem has been handed over to the IAF's custody.
(TS//NF) S-2 Comment: It is currently our strongest hypothesis that the RAF's exercise is a cover story for having CAS assets nearby in support of this Tier 1 Special Forces group's mission, who is also likely to be British in origin. S-2 has sent out a request to Battalion HQ for clarification from RAF Air Command, and is awaiting a response.
