What kind of hard drive are you running? It could be that if you're on a HDD that you have some corrupted memory or a pending drive failure. Also a bad ram chip could cause a blue screen of death.

When you direct connect (or try to), how far along does it get into connecting?  Does it just not even try to connect, or do you connect and then get booted?  Arma crash entirely?

Indeed, it is CPU intensive.  Something with a core i7 and 16GB of ram should have you flying towards the bullets in no time.

Basically to echo what everyone else has already said - I joined the unit literally less than 2 weeks after getting Arma and its been great.  Very helpful crew here. 

Thanks for the responses.  Classic user error.  I didn't have the Russian Armed Forced mod installed.  All good now.

When I launch the game with the mods installed I get this error message.  Although afterwards the game loads and it seems like things work ok.  Was wondering if anybody has this error message... "addon '506th_config' requires addon 'rhs_c_weapons' seems like I'm missing an addon, but I'm sure...
