Microphone Issues

So my microphone decided it didn't want to work. Now I'm stuck trying to figure out how I can persuade it back into working.

What I have tried so far.

Started with the obvious - Mic is not muted on inline mute switch

My computer is detecting the headset (Mic and all), and says the device is working properly. I can hear just fine, only the mic isn't working.

Microphone is set as default device

Tried Windows Sound Recorder in case it was just Team Speak - Nope, still nothing.

I ran Windows Audio Recording trouble shooter - No issues detected.

Tried multiple headsets as well. One USB, one with 3.5mm jacks - Both got sound just fine, neither microphone worked.

Drivers are all up-to-date

And yes all the normal dumb computer stuff, restarting, unplugging plugging back in etc etc.

My front headphone jack is messed up. So sometimes I hear from it and sometimes I don't. I can wiggle  it to work. Depending one where your plug it there could be a loose connections.

sir,
I assume you followed these troubleshooting steps:
https://answers.microsoft.com/en-us/windows/forum/windows_8-hardware/my-headset-microphone-not-working-in-windows-8/f4f1ad12-e7ea-4ffb-ac88-df5eed3298e6

Beyond that, I would recommend disabling all of your recording devices, rebooting and then re-enabling them.  Ensure you have "Show Disabled Devices." selected.
