Alright gents time for an upgrade..

Currently at -
i7 2600k @ 3.4Ghz
GTX 780ti
ASUS P68Z-VPRO
8GB G-Skill RAM
Coolermaster HAF912 Plus Case


I recent just installed a new 250gb Samsung EVO SSD
Looking to order a new mobo and CPU today or tomorrow, my questions base around my case.

So far I'm looking at ordering
i7 4790k @ 4.0GHz
Asus Z97-A/USB 3.1 Motherboard
Corsair Hydro H75 Liquid Cooler

If there are better motherboards out there then let me know, but keep it around that price range and size.
Would it be worth getting a new case? I honestly don't play around inside my computer too much but my cable management isn't the strongest, My case seems quite small to what I have in it currently. I would prefer not to get a new case because I'd just be building a new computer in a unfamiliar case. If there are any cases you recommend throw them at me, but keep the price to a minimum.

The coolermaster one sticks out to me just because of familiarity.

You won't regret it.

I wouldn't really bother upgrading your current CPU, the i7-2600k is still a beast of a CPU, especially when you overclock it. You'll see minimal performance difference between an i7-4970K and the i7-2600K, you'd be better off putting that money into a new graphic card like a GTX 980ti.
 
I would say the other way around? The 2600k is extremely close to bottlenecking my 780ti and the 780ti is really kicking the newer cards ass still.

Hmm, not going to lie, I'm finding that very hard to believe but nevertheless; have you overclocked your CPU?
 
I have not, Last time I tried it consisted of plenty of blue screens. Either way CPU has been ordered and Mobo and cooler I'll be picking up tomorrow.

Greetings Captain,

I literally bought almost the same configuration u just posted like 2 weeks ago. Mine consists of:

i7 4790k @ 4.0GHz
Z97-PRO GAMER Motherboard
Cooler Master Hyper T4

All I can say is that I am amazed at how it runs (together with a 970). Since I don`t know much about motherboards, hope it helps u have a comparison of what I run and how good it is.

As far as the cases go, Ive got myself the CM HAF one u posted, and I would highly recommend it!

Installed it all today,

Kept the case, i7 4790k @ 4.0GHz, ASUS Maximus VII Ranger, Corsair H75, That Corsair is a fucking ass to install in a mid tower holy shit, never again.

Running nice a smooth tho.
 
Yeah the corsair is fantastic but it can be a pain to mount if youve never done them before. but they are easy enough to get in there. you should be quite happy with all the new gear :)
 
Although being the idiot I am, I haven't restarted since installing my GPU drivers so that might have something to do with the higher than normal temps.
