JAMDY ISLES ARCHIPELAGO (Special Report)
By: Tomas Vale | Island Dispatch Network (IDN)

U.S. forces have begun the early stages of what officials describe as a “limited stabilization operation” in the Jamdy Isles Archipelagos, a self-governed Norwegian territory that fell into turmoil after a violent internal revolt earlier this month. Now controlled by the Jamdy National Restoration Council (JNRC) and its militant wing, the Jamdy People’s Republic (JPR), the islands have become the site of rapidly escalating conflict. American troops established positions along the southeastern coast early Thursday, with fighting intensifying by mid-morning, where JPR fighters have mounted organized resistance. U.S. officials say the armed group is proving more coordinated than expected, using ambush tactics and deep familiarity with the terrain to challenge advancing forces.

Deadly Misidentification Incident
In one of the first major controversies of the operation, U.S. Army personnel mistakenly opened fire on a group of private security contractors near a villa estate outside the AGS Power Plant. Four individuals were killed. Military officials have confirmed an investigation is underway, calling the conflict a “tragic misidentification". The incident has heightened anxiety among residents already navigating a volatile and uncertain landscape. “We’re just trying to protect ourselves,” said one local resident. “There’s no clear lines here, and now people are dying because of it.” Others warned that distinguishing between civilians, private security, and militia fighters has become nearly impossible—raising fears of further deadly errors.

An Uncertain Path Forward
The JNRC has condemned the U.S. presence as illegitimate, while the JPR has pledged continued resistance. With fractured control across the islands and limited reliable information, analysts caution that the situation could quickly deepen into a prolonged conflict. For now, civilians remain caught between competing forces as the crisis continues to unfold.

INTERVIEW WITH AGS POWERPLANT DIRECTOR
In a brief satellite phone interview, AGS Power Plant director Yuri Bakholdin—speaking from an undisclosed location where he says he is avoiding what he believes to be unlawful detention by U.S. forces—accused American troops of raiding his villa, killing his private security guards, and seizing control of the facility. “They came without warning,” he said. “My guards were protecting a civilian home and were executed.” Bakholdin also claimed his associate, Leon Rubashkin, was detained by masked men in camouflaged uniforms near the town of Libreval, an incident he says prompted him to go into hiding. He further alleged the takeover removed the plant from Jamdy National Restoration Council oversight, warning it could threaten electricity and essential services across the island. “If this disrupts operations, it’s ordinary people who will suffer,” he added. U.S. officials have not confirmed the raid but have stated that securing key infrastructure is part of their mission.

IN OTHER NEWS - WATER TREATMENT OFFLINE
Damage sustained during recent combat operations at a major water treatment facility in the island’s southeast has forced a widespread shutdown of running water across the island. Residents are now relying on bottled supplies as Norwegian military engineers work to restore at least partial functionality to the system. Officials warn that full restoration could take time, raising concerns about sanitation and access to safe drinking water as fighting continues.
