Theater/Strategic-level News & Intelligence Updates, Activity, and Analysis
Following last week's firm defense of Anizay, the initial invasion efforts spearheaded by the 9th Armored Division and the 3rd Mechanized Division of the Dureshi National Ground Forces into Al-Anbar Governorate have been blunted here in Anizay. In response, Dureshi Command has rotated these divisions from Al-Anbar to Erbil Governorate in Northern Iraq to join the 16th Armored Division in their push towards Baghdad. In their place will likely be the 92nd Armored Division, the 84th Mechanized Division, and the 21st Infantry Division, all reserve units easily identifiable by their outdated red, green, black and white camo uniforms, lack of helmets, and uneven distribution of Soviet-era body armor to troops.
Odin's current intent is to maintain and strengthen our current footing by systematically clearing through any remaining OPFOR units South of Northing line 07 - on-line with AIRBASE CHUPAROSA - while we still have INDFOR support. As the situation near Baghdad worsens, it is likely that the IGF will pull all resources back to the defense of the capital. Once done, the Battalion may finally push Northwards in a coordinated line and reclaim all strongpoints previously lost in the first days of the invasion.
Local/Tactical-level News & Intelligence Updates, Activity, and Analysis
Most of the local militant factions have also taken up arms against the invading Dureshi forces, with the exception of the Lions of the Tigris, whose leadership have been entirely replaced with Dureshi Special Forces operatives. As an unexpected result, the disparate militant factions are slowly merging together under the same command structure, led by an unidentified individual. S-2 will be continuing our investigative efforts, and we expect to have a profile of this individual dissemminated within the week.
All troops are advised to exercise strict fire discipline to avoid engaging civilians or even militants who have taken up arms against the invading forces. If the target does not match the described profile of invading Dureshi troops, the ROE is: fire only when fired upon.
Special Info/Patrol Objective-specific Intelligence
The town of Qalandar has been re-designated as OP GRIMSHAW, which is currently being occupied by a large garrison. Civilian presence within the town should be minimal after an entire week of fighting and occupation, but S-2 cannot confirm that it is completely vacant of civvies at this time. The village of Makan Aljamal is also occupied with a smaller OPFOR garrison, who will likely act as QRF for OP GRIMSHAW.
