UPDATED:  The original video was incomplete.  Full video now loaded.

During the AAR there was a comment about the TF being separated.  As Phoenix, I kept the Tablet open to watch the ground action and the movement may assist the TF in their discussion to improve command and control.

From a RL Infantryman, better use of communicating Phase Lines during movement will assist with improving command and control and ensure elements are not alone in the fight.  Of course, this is from a current Aviator...enjoy the amateur video.

I'll have some vid from the FTX up within a day or two.  I didn't catch any of the ejections (that I know of) but could be helpful regardless.

I am Co-piloting Phoenix Heavy and then Lancer.  Warning - the Lancer video with me using its optic will likely make you sick.  I am still trying to figure that one out...

The point of this video is to record every aspect of Phoenix flight from lift off to the insert LZ where the ground troops conduct a Fast Rope under enemy DF; the exfil and return to the airbase.

Enjoy.

The final flight of OCM where the nuke took out the controls of my fully loaded CH-47 during the extract requiring me to autorotate.  Thanks to WOC Falter for sharing his video as it is always good news to see these successful landings with little to no injuries from a major airframe malfunction.

Not too exciting from Warlord's Gunner position, but good training value as I haven't filled this role in far too long.  The ending is good for anyone needing a short clip of Warlord flying over the convoy rolling into a village at time hack 1:10...  Otherwise, don't expect too much.

I fill-in for Havoc 4 as their driver to support TFB during Convoy Operations Training.  I maintained 3rd person view throughout to observe the ground forces.  Nothing exciting, but it gives another perspective of the ground action.  I don't do this often but offer the following thoughts from a fill-in!

1.  Actions on contact.  When the convoy was engaged, the rear was left without any defense as every armed vehicle moved toward the fight.
2.  For training purposes.  The rear squads should have taken point during the training to give them front row experience.

Havoc 4 always appreciates the support we get from fillins.

It is always interesting being the "rear guard", we've really got to maintain our sectors, and stay cautious in urban areas.

Thanks for the perspective Chief.

Constructive criticism from a pilot on ground stuff...  Take it with a grain of salt as it was just an observation for the TF to consider.

Winter FTX 04-18, TFA, conducts an ambush against an enemy convoy and then advances to destroy an enemy strong hold.  As Flight Lead, I lead 2x CH-47's with Lancer escort from the Airbase to the LZ to insert the TF.  Upon RTB, the pilots changed uniforms into Warlord to provide CAS and Phoenix to provide Resupply and Reinsert support.

NOTE:  See the video description for key time stamps to jump to the Insert, Resupply, or Reinsert action.  I was in place to capture Thunder's approach and landing at the airfield as well.

As always, I look forward to any of your constructive criticisms of how D/Co performed and if you recorded the insert action as ground troop, please let me know so that I can review that footage as we incorporate your POV in our continued analysis of our contributions to the 506th and improving our capabilities.

D/Co supports TFB's mission to ambush an enemy convoy followed by an assault.

This mission begins with a 4x UH-60 insertion with overwatch provided by Thunder and Warlord.  No Resupply, Re-Insert, or extract was conducted - but we should have extracted the TF..  Caveat - I tend to comment on whatever I am watching on the BLUFOR Tracker so don't get butt hurt over my comments.

I decided to try my hand at video editing beginning with my recent recording of TFB's mission where I was shot down while piloting Warlord.  To be honest, for this to be my first time seriously looking to edit a video, I am pleasantly happy with the results and I hope you all will send some criticisms on how to improve my work.

I took some liberties, as you will see, and I hope you enjoy what I have created.  Credits certainly go to SSG Garcia for the splash screen (great picture btw), Volbeat for some music, and the fellows from the S-2 shop for inspiration.  Beyond that, tomorrow you will see the finished product and until then you are welcome to view the original TFB mission posted above.

Phoenix perspective Operation Lionheart 03-18 TFB 23 SEPT 2018

Nothing super fancy this mission as there were no re-inserts and only 1x Resupply sortie flown.  I was on the receiving end of SAF during the airdrop of supplies but no credible air defense threats (thanks Thunder and Warlord).
