Two questions. Keymapping and performance

I have two questions.

1) Is there a particular way that members of the 506th find the best way to map their keys,
that is the most efficient and useful.

2) Regarding performance on servers, Arma 3 has a reputation for fps drops on multiplayer
servers. Does the 506th have any tweaks that help keep the fps over 30. XD

I keep the majority of my keys default with the exception of in game direct chat which I unbind and grenade throw. I recomend you bind your change grenade key to something separate and distinct from your grenade throw button so that you do not accidentally throw a grenade at the back of your buddies head. My recommendation is to keep everything else default until you finish OSUT so that it is easier for instructors to help you if a problem arises or to lower any confusion that may arise. ARMA has a ton of keys, and you may not realize a conflict arises until months later when you need a long range radio etc.

Other than that, people have all kinds of crazy keymapping from using "e, s, d, f" as opposed to "wasd" to even using xbox controllers.

Client FPS is more determined by your processor. There are a ton of sites out there that claim x settings are perfect but at the end of the day, you will need to play around with your settings to find the right balance. Server FPS is a whole different issue which is out of your control, but the mod team does their best to ensure the server performs as best as possible considering we have 60+ with all kinds of supporting assets with dozens of AI.
 
Keep you keys default until after OSUT. After I completed OSUT, I completely changed my keys , I have the keys I regularly use next the my default movement keys for better acess, and simple things like inventory on the right side. But it should be whatever is comfortablessed for you. Best of luck

My favorite keybinds are
W+S for sprint
F for prone
Z for hold breath
Space for zoom
2xT for grenade
G for switch grenade type
 
1,2,3,4 just above your WASD, are good ones to change for things you need fast. Some people don't like to use those, but they work great for something you need quickly and briefly.

I use 4 (& double 4 to hold) for my compass, and 3 for my laser/light accessories. It's awesome with a bright flashlight, as you don't take your hands off your trigger or movement keys and you can just blind the hell out of some fucker as you breach a room.

The numbers are only used for "Command" sub menu, but they serve no use to me as that so I just deleted them for that. But yea wait till after OSUT and find what works for you by just sitting down going through the control settings.
(Also yeah double G for grenade for the love of God. DO IT NOW!!)

As for the latter question, I don't think anything is used to increase performance. If you have a decent PC, I wouldn't worry too much, you should get around 30. If you're getting shit frames, chances are that everyone else is too. That seems to be usually what happens.
