Will the i3 8350k be a decent upgrade over my FX-8320?

First off, i'm not a CPU expert. I currently told one of my Recruiters if my FX-8320 would work, he said it would probably run in the low 20 FPS during operations. so i plan on ordering an i3 8350k. Would that be a decent upgrade? If someone can help me or give me suggestions will be appreciated.

Your new I3 should be absolutely fine and shouldn’t present any problems running ARMA at decent settings. Unfortunately, I don’t think you should expect to see any massive difference between this and your older FX. There will be a difference, but don’t expect huge FPS gains.

A lot of things will also depend on your current GPU. If it’s a recent and high end model, you might encounter bottlenecking with your new I3 that would’ve also been present with your old FX. If it’s older and lower spec, then the change in CPU won’t make a massive difference as previously mentioned.

Finally, ARMA is a real SOB when it comes to performance, specifically framerate in an operation or larger scale training. My computer is a beauty and I upgrade very regularly and still get 20 frames often whilst in an op, and no amount of hardware on my end will change that really.

i7 8700 has been solid since I've had it, and paired with a GTX 1070 it manages just fine.

The i3 will work fine as long as you don't plan on streaming. The two CPUs you mentioned are different chipsets, right? Do you plan on getting a new mobo as well?

Here's all the processors I plan on ordering:
1 i3 8350k
2 I5 9600k
3 Ryzen 2700x
4 keep the FX-8320 and save up for an i7 or something.
Witch one will give me the best performance?

It's a wee bit of a toss up between the I5 and the Ryzen, but if your motherboard can support it, I'd probably go with the I5. Please don't buy ANYTHING before checking that the motherboard supports the component.

Yea I might go with the i5. Don't worry, I will get the right motherboard.
