Why it sucks to be on the receiving end of a Javelin Anti-tank missile (hint: You see your end approaching):

Write up of Approximate Number of Enemy Forces Faced by Task Force Alpha Durring This Assault
----------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------

                          OPFOR Forces (PRNA)
(Comprised of Latest Military Gear and Training From China)
2x SU-25 Frogfoots
1x MI-24G Hind Gunship
+/- 4x T-80A Main Battle Tanks
+/- 3x BMP-2 Infantry Fighting Vehicles
+/- 1 Battalion of Infantry (Garrisoned)
+/- 1 Company of OPFOR Special Forces
+/- 1 Battalion of Mechanized/Motorized Infantry
3x Podnos 80MM Mortar Tubes
--------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------
                            INDEPENDENT Forces (MOSN)
(Comprised of Surplus Soviet Era Equipment and some Training from Russia)
1x L-39 Albatros Jet Trainer (With rocket pods)
3x T-72B MAin Battle Tanks (Surplus 1984)
+/- 2x BTR 60/70 Armored Personnel Carriers (Surplus 1980s)
+/- 2x BMP-2 Infantry Fighting Vehicles (Surplus 1984)
1x ZSU 23/4 Shilka Self Propelled AAA
+/- 3 Battalions of Enemy Infantry (Assaulting)
+/- 1 Company of Special Forces/Recon Infantry (Scouting/Assaulting)
+/- 1 Battalion of Motorized Infantry (Assaulting)
3x Podnos 80mm Mortar Tubes

Biggest blow to the enemy goes to First Lieutenant Barba of the 74th with his 2000 pound JDAM strike on the main compound, killing a majority of the garrisoned infantry aswell as a few officers and their SF entourage and leveling the entire building on top of their heads.  This strike also destroyed the ICBMs and their launchers Task Force Alpha was set out to secure.

Biggest blow to friendly ESAF forces was the combined might of PRNA and MOSN mortars which ended up dropping 2/3rds of the task force in one devastating blow, luckily the task force recovered and saw minimal KIA.

All PRNA forces are presumed KIA in the assault, a majority of them being killed or taken prisoner by MOSN forces as they hit PRNA positions while they were already engaged with friendly ESAF forces

So the total amount of OPFOR KIAs would be...

2 Frogfoot pilots + 2 Hind pilots + 1 Albatros pilot + 21 MBT crewmen + 15 BMP crewmen + 6 BTR crewmen + 3 Shilka crewmen ~700 Garrisoned Infantry (1 battalion) + ~350 Special Forces/Recon Infantry (2 companies) + ~1400 Motorized Infantry (2 battalions) + 6 Mortar gunners = around 2506 OPFOR KIAs.

Unless ArmA 3 counts their unit sizes differently or my knowledge is incorrect, that is just a ridiculous number.

Keep in mind there were two enemy forces battling each other throughout the mission, we just inserted ourselves into the middle of it and made sure we came out on top.  8)

Not to mention that to a certain extent, you have to consider firefights in ARMA don't necessarily go the way they do in real life, and that its also Zeus's job to ensure that everybody is participating. That means making sure every Private on the ground sees something of the engagement, every squad leader has to maneuver and coordinate, that the platoon leader has to always be watching the whole of the field to coordinate his squads, that Havoc 4 doesn't just bring along the tubes for nothing, and that Warlord and Thunder aren't just uselessly fluttering about overhead with nothing to do for most of the operation.

I deliberately don't stream my Ares controlling so I don't give away my OPFOR tactics at use, however I will comment on this and let you in on a bit of insight:
There was not quite that much OPFOR and GREENFOR down.  I can definitely say the infantry numbers there are heavily inflated.  Each task force is different and depending on attendance can handle varying amounts of pressure.  I've learned pretty clearly where TFA bends and breaks and always try to keep missions on the razor's edge.  No doubt there was a lot of stuff flying around due to the three-way fight but with MOSN and PRNA killing each other there needed to be more down than normal.  We're talking multiple platoons of different compositions on each side but not multiple battalions.

I'd like to thank my TACP and aircraft for always being there for me!

When 3-4 is allowed to load into the training server early for squad training, we must find ways to occupy ourselves.
